Very informative and enlightening. From now on, I'll search through debian-devel, too. As of apt-proxy, it suits my needs well, and is certainly worth 20 minutes spent configuring it. I haven't encounter the mentioned compatibility problem with latest rsync from sid, although I'll keep that in mind, should anything go wrong. Thank you, Daniel and Daniel!
