Hi,

I have a new woody laptop running.

I have not recompiled the kerenel - just the default from the isolinux
cd so far.

I _thought_ that I had frame buffer support in the kernel, because I can
run in vga=778 mode (console).

When I try to install x-window-system, I said to use framebuffer, and it
fails with device not found FB ....

I do have /dev/fb0 ... etc.

Is there a trick to getting the frame buffer X-server running?

Alternatively, can someone tell me how I can reconfigure the
x-window-server package so that I can choose the ACTUAL video chipset
(ATI Rage Mobility 2X) instead of frame buffer.

Is there an advantage to using the native chip drivers over framebuffer
that I will likely encounter?

aloha,
dave
