Seems to me you would be throwing the baby out with the bath water.
As a long time Internet user and advocate, it breaks my heart to see umpteen messages with attachments I cannot read, with exactly zero useful content, that are auto-generated by some brain-dead lame excuse for software, every time I open my mailbox. Seems to me every responsible netizen should behave in a way that does not waste bandwidth, incur unneeded download charges, and generally piss off everyone. Like, for example, read d-u via usenet, or from a different e-mail account (or simply fix your b0rked mail swerver).
