hi ya

to get any app to print to the printer...

- if the printer is connected to the debian box...
it is a local printer to that box

- otherwise, its a network printer...
        #
        # printcap on other machines NOT connected to the hp940c printer
        #
        hp940c|DeskJet:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp940c:\
        :rm=debian:

        restart lpd after editing

- for MS apps...
        - use their printer manager in their control panel

        - you should be able to select which printer you wanna print to

- for *nix...
        - use your fav apps.... ( printtool, vi,

        - on the machine that has the printer connected...
        - its best to find a printer config utility that lists yourprinter
( apsfilter, magicfilter, cups, printtool, etc...

        #
        # typical entries for local printer on /dev/lp0 ( parallel port )
        #
        hp:\
        :sh:\
        :ml=0:\
        :mx=0:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/hp:\
        :lp=/dev/lp0:\
        :lpd_bounce=true:\
        :if=/usr/share/printconf/mf_wrapper:

# try printing postscript to a $5,000 GL/2 printer.... what a mess...
