It should, and does, in my experience, provided both desktops are GNU/Linux (or Unix), and I've got 3-button mice configured on both systems. To paste to a Legacy MS Windows desktop, right click, and select the "Paste" option from the context menu (how primitive). Peace. -- Karsten M.
