Start mozilla as root. Go to http://java.sun.com/ . Mozilla should pop up a window asking if you want to install the required plugin. Follow the instructions, and mozilla will download and install the plugin automatically. Restart the browser and revisit java.sun.com to make sure it is working. I don't know of a debianized way to do it.
