I've been using the galeon/mozilla-browser/mozilla-psm combo for about 6 months now and love it. I'm always using the stuff out of unstable although most of my system is Woody (I do it with apt-get -t unstable).
However, on one of the three Debian boxes I use regularly I have this very odd problem where text input boxes lose focus all by themselves after about 30-40 seconds; I'll be typing away in a text box for example and all of a sudden none of my characters are getting printed; I have to click again with the mouse then it works for a while then loses focus again. This happens in any text entry box: URL, on a web page, even in a basic authentication dialogue. Anyway, it only happens on one system so I thought maybe that system has an older version of Galeon or whatever, so I updated to the very latest stuff on Monday or so: ii galeon 1.2.0-0.6 Mozilla based web browser with GNOME look an ii mozilla-browse 0.9.9-3 Mozilla Web Browser - core and browser ii mozilla-psm 0.9.9-3 Mozilla Web Browser - Personal Security Mana This also happened with galeon 1.2.0-0.5 and even some earlier versions. Now things are even worse! Not only do I still have the focus problems, but my fonts are all wrong: I have nice TrueType fonts set up and configured my system to use them, but Galeon is now using some font that's way too big (it looks like 14 pt or so) as the default, even though my preferences box hasn't changed. Most distressing, though, a number of things no longer work. I use a VPN client from Netlock on my Linux box and it has a web-based interface to stop/start the VPN, where you connect to a local CGI script on a private port, then enter your username/password and click the "OK" button; this no longer works! I click "OK" and the throbber goes for a few seconds, then it stops and nothing happens: my screen is the same as it was before and my VPN is not started. I can do this many times with identical results. This is not the only problem: other forms-based pages don't work with Galeon, giving odd errors about incorrect values, but still work with Netscape just fine. I've had to move back to Netscape 4.x because Galeon won't start my VPN; Netscape does it with no problem, just as Galeon used to :-/. However my work system still works fine; it's using: ii galeon 1.2.0-0.1 Mozilla based web browser with GNOME look an ii mozilla-browse 0.9.9-1 Mozilla Web Browser - core and browser ii mozilla-psm 0.9.9-1 Mozilla Web Browser - Personal Security Mana I miss my Galeon, though, please help!
