Most likely yes.  I have a C500 with a 60gb Maxtor drive attached on hdd,
that the BIOS pukes on as well.  Somewhere around 2-3 meg a second without
the IDE patch.. Running 2.2.20 with ide patches, does 18-19 meg/sec. Still
pathetically slow, but that's because it's a pathetically slow 5400rpm
drive. =)
