by "peculiar elements" do you mean to ask which aspects of
potato differ from such aspects of woody and sid (and, for that
matter, slink)? or are you asking how to have your emailer call
a script to append text to outgoing email? i'm more likely to
be able to help with the latter.

i note that you use mozilla for your email:
        X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.76 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14-5.0 i586)
there may be someone here proficient in getting mozilla to
append scripted output, but i use mutt (check my email headers)
so i may not be much use to you...

and selfish reasons are the best reasons of all, aslong as you
pay your own way, of course--

DEBIAN NEWBIE TIP #110 from Dimitri Maziuk <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
:
Here's how to TUNNEL SECURE X11 CONNECTIONS THROUGH SSH: on the
client, do this:
        client# export DISPLAY=client:0.0
        client# ssh -X server
then once you're logged in at the server, do:
        server# netscape &
The environment created at the server will include the DISPLAY
variable, so netscape (or whatever) will dialogue with the
client machine. (See "man ssh" for more.)
