According to http://www.linmodems.org/ and http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html you might be lucky using this driver: http://developer.intel.com/design/modems/products/md563x.htm Try the package matching your kernel version (2.2 I guess with Potato), there's Debian notes in the readme-file.
