Fortunatly, I am not _as_ new as I might seem (although I made a real 
newbie error. I determined the filetype with "file" and thougth, it would
report a link as link. And since I had two "startx"-files, I wanted to 
replace one file with a link... The result is known and documented for
ever and visible for everybody, displaying my stupidity ;-D).
And since I _definetly_ prefer mutt and lynx to X-based clients, I have been
able to read the thread and re-install the lost file.
