a strange bug started to appear recently that seems to affect only users
of IE (why do i even care?). anyway, it's been reproduced on IE 4.01 and
IE 5.5, but cannot be reproduced on opera 5.0 and 6.0 for windoze, and
neither on opera 6.0 TP3 for linux. netscape 4.77 and konqueror 2.2.2
are also unaffected,
the bug results in certain messages producing a blank page in the right
pane (IE 5) or no action whatsoever (IE 4). the following plugins are
loaded:

right on the login page, IE reports an error:
line 9, char 5: can't move focus to the control because it's invisible,
not enabled, or of a type that does not accept focus.
i immediately thought that this has to do with the focus_change plugin, but
disabling that didn't fix the problem. i still went ahead and disabled
plugins 4, 21, 22, and 23.
when logged in, the index of INBOX displays, and some short messages are
viewable, but any message of reasonable size produces en empty page.

is this a known issue? can this be fixed?
