You must be using an unusual definition of "helpful". A Real Life story (which I already mentioned here): someone posts "A fish swam accross my desktop! I'm sure I didn't install that. Have I been hacked?" message to comp.os.linux.security. He gets the standard advice: 1. if you haven't installed it, you probably have been hacked. 2. if you've been hacked, reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS. (Someone's posted "it's just an easter egg in gnome" message later. Hopefully, before the OP fdisk'ed his box.) Cute and harmless indeed...
