I was looking at dmesg for something completely different and just
noticed this repeated 5 times:

probable hardware bug: clock timer configuration lost - probably a
VIA686a.
probable hardware bug: restoring chip configuration.

Except I'm using the Triton II/TC430HX chipset. I've never noticed this
before, although I also have that irritating RTC / "char_major_10_135"
problem. Are they related? This is a stock 2.2.20 kernel, right off
Ian Eure's netinst 3.0 CD (no ReiserFS or anything, just plain vanilla,
I assume).
