http://tuxedo.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/homesteading/ (again if you have already) - especially chapter 6 I think Debian is a gift culture - and one I admire. Your proposal (or any other) involving payment is almost an insult to the givers. I am (very slowly) developing some software which if I finish it (its currently taken 6 months not to write the requirements spec for it) will be my donation to the open source community. I would want that donation to be freely available in perpetuity (if possible) as my symbol of my contribution and not I also try to help where I can by reading these mailing lists and contributing to the community. I do all of this as a hobby - to get away from my day job of fighting in a capitalistic society all day (in the computer industry - but its been 25 years since I programmed for a living). - -- Alan - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.chandlerfamily.org.uk -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE8Tdtt1mf3M5ZDr2kRAmQeAKCTJS4IM4vL/6zMAiQo/O3/pKJKqgCcDw7/ nXcRiJTHO4Nu1c2SZVGhUDQ= =DM9v -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
