Don't know an exact answer to your problem, but you may be able to find one at http://www.linuxprinting.org I think your problem probably lies in that you have to do something specific on the machine connected to the printer (like setting up a samba share, though samba's probably not the best idea for two Linux boxes) in order to allow other machines to access the printer.
