I'm in a similar position - I would like to force myself to learn python and C. I currently know Perl to a standard of proficency (whatever that means), so I'm lazy and if anything needs writing I write it in perl. This isn't too helpful in terms of developing 'real' programs (in C): please this is not a call to flame-war! I guess I may eventually get round to learning python. C is a little easier to make myself learn as I *need* to know it to help develop programs written in it... Not sure when I'll learn python.
