*Not* recommended for home use. Serious power suckage.

I had one (freebie from a friend) for a few days before foisting it off
on someone else (who still doesn't have a cart for it last I heard). It
would dim lights down the whole block when it cycled.... Well, at
least my own apartment.

The HPLJ4 is a bit heavy duty, but works admirably. I just turn it off
except when printing.

My next printer will be a laser with some form of power management (like
auto on/off and very low standbye draw).

Anecdote. Did some travelling this summer. Stopped by Amory Lovin's
Rocky Mountain Institute, a research center on energy efficiency. The
institute itself is both a house and a showpiece of highly efficient
design. The power usage goes up about 100% when their photocopier is in
use. Inkjets are much more efficient, though generally have far lower
performance than LJs.

Peace.
