first off, have you ever heard of a linux email-virus? do a google search and if you find one, let me know. there are a few different mail server apps available in linux. personally, i use exim, and i also used it a few years back for a mail server that was used by a law firm; and i've never had any complaints from them. while exim may appear a tad complicated, at first, it is nowhere near the complexity of sendmail, and, once you develop some familiarity with it, you won't want anything else. the lawyers i mentioned were all using widows machines to access mail on a linux server, in case that's an issue. check out the web page at www.exim.org. as for security flaws, ask yourself why microsoft mail apps are the favorite target, and there's your answer.
