this is odd. its NEVER happened before. i was doing
normal stuff in X and all of a sudden X crashed. I
make extensive use of X and usually 15-30 virtual desktops
every day and have never had a problem. i last upgraded
my woody dist about 3 weeks ago.
my X was not heavily loaded at the time(i usually get it
to 220-300MB of memory usage before restarting it, which
is about once a month). I don't have any of the fancy stuff
like DRI or opengl or any of that turned on. video card is
a Matrox G400 32MB. it had been running fine since the last
upgrade(had not restarted it)
system uptime is 230 days 19 hours. if anyone knows
how i could get more info about it other then this
generic message i will try to get it if it happens
again. kernel is 2.2.19(custom built may 17).
at the exact time of the crash i was working in
netscape and had xmms playing mp3s along with ~15
or so terminals up with opera and licq.(the same
apps that run 24/7).
the XFree86.4.0.log file seems to have gotten
overwritten when kdm restarted X. infact
i can't be sure if the kdm.log has the right
error as there are no timestamps. timestamps
on the logfiles themselves:
