The Nvidia drivers autimatically use 2x (AFAIK) if your Motherboard supports it, if you want to use 4x then you would alter the os-registry.c file in the NVIDIA_kernel package
So my guess would be that either you Mobo does not support 2x or you would have to alter it manually in the bios..
