Ian, The rclocal script is specific to Redhat, I believe. In Debian, what you would do is write a script that turns on the numlock key - I think a script that just did a setled +num (from memory - check before proceeding) - and put it in /etc/init.d/ The rest of Collin's suggestion is the command normally used to modify /etc/rc* scripts. You could also just put a symlink in /etc/rc2.d/ pointing to the script in /etc/init.d/ and then it will work, altho that is not the _Right Way_(TM). the scripts in /etc/init.d/ (and the symlinks in the various /etc/rc* folders, are the services stopped and started as you enter runlevels.
