Shell# apt-get install slapd (installs 2.0.14-1.1 on Sid and 2.0.14-1 on Woody) The configure script ask the usual info (root tree, auto, admin name & password, etc..) and the installation ends normally. I can't start slapd (/etc/init.d/slapd start). Having a look a this init script shows that if "/etc/ldap/slapd.conf" is missing the script exits. Having a look at "/etc/ldap" shows a "slapd.conf.in"... (strange) and looking inside it shows that some configuration parameters contain TOKENS instead of real values... ie: Directory "@DIRECTORY@" (instead of "/var/lib/ldap") The "Admin" CN is shown as "@ADMIN@" instead of the real CN "cn=admin,ou=People,dc=myserver"... Of course, fixing these issues in the config file and relaunching slapd does not solve the problem ! I can then connect to the LDAP server but the tree is empty :( (I bet it have something to do with the TOKENS not being correctly substituted in some place of a post-install script of the package) Is there something I'm definitely doing wrong or is there a problem with the package itself ?? Any help appreciated... I can't switch to Potato version of LDAP as its definitely too old... Thanks a lot in advance.
