your Xserver is fine if it works as root.
It's probably your Xautorization.

Onderwerp: running startx fails with: timeout in locking authority file
?

When i try to start an X session as user mike by running startx it fails
with the message:

xauth: timeout in locking authority file /home/mike/.Xauthority

But it works ok when i startx as root.

This was working fine until yesterday, but i haven't figured out what i may
have
changed to cause this. Any cluesL TIA.
