i do both. i don't run win32 but i offer both squid and nat to my users. squid mostly for web caching and ad zapping. you could also setup a transparent proxy on the gateway to forward all port 80 requests to the proxy. i don't run 2.4 so i can't help you with setting up a transparent proxy .. nate
