Hi,
I am running a debian woody system (some packages are from the unstable
dist too). uname -a returns:
Linux kailash 2.2.19 #1 Sat Sep 22 22:08:47 EST 2001 i686 unknown

I am quite new to debian (just a couple of weeks, got tired of redhat
and rpms). I have a couple of questions:

1. I am trying to get the ALSA server running on this system. On running
alsaconf, I get the following message:

Initializing ... please wait ...
modprobe: Can't locate module snd
cat: /proc/asound/version: No such file or directory
expr: syntax error

I have a SB Live! Value sound card and the emu10k1 module is installed. I am
able to
play music etc with the esd server but would like to get ALSA running. I
am unable to find the snd module in /lib/modules/2.2.19/ subtree. Where
can I get it? Am I missing something else?

2. I have noticed that after I do an apt-get update and install some new
package, apt-get says that 201 packages not upgraded. How can I find out
the names of these 201 packages?

Sam
