Hopefully you haven't already done the upgrade - these are eseential,
and your box won't boot without them.  Try changing your sources.list,
updating, and then getting apt-utils, libc6, and dpkg.  Then procced
with the dist-upgrade.  It should go smoother with a new apt.  If it
still insists on removing these, try apt-get installing them to
upgrade their versions and then retry the dist-upgrade.  If all else
fails, go with dselect - it tends to be smarter.
