That's not gdm's log, it's X's log. And you're suffering from the dreaded
"can't find the fixed font" dilemma.
To fix:
10:07PM|-> *apt* fonts.alias
10:07PM|*apt* somebody said fonts.alias was run "update-fonts-alias misc" if
your fonts.alias is missing for the misc dir, or try "dpkg -i
--force-confmiss /var/cache/apt/archives/xfonts-base_<TAB>"
That'll fix it.
