There are various ways. For a simple database, dump it, try to import it, fix problems by hand, try again etc. There are also conversion utilities for MySQL dumps, like my2pg.pl (http://ziet.zhitomir.ua/~fonin/code/ according to a README in the postgresql-contrib package). In some cases (in particular ones where you need to do some kind of cleanup) a custom Perl script using DBI can be the best way.
