Install lspci:

    $ apt-get install lspci

Run it:

    $ /sbin/lspci
    00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 440FX - 82441FX PMC [Natoma] (rev 02)
    00:07.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82371SB PIIX3 ISA [Natoma/Triton II]
(rev 01)
    00:07.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82371SB PIIX3 IDE [Natoma/Triton
II]
    00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Lite-On Communications Inc LNE100TX [Linksys
EtherFast 10/100] (rev 25)
    00:0f.0 SCSI storage controller: Adaptec AIC-7881U
    00:11.0 Multimedia audio controller: Ensoniq ES1370 [AudioPCI]
    00:13.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. 86c988 [ViRGE/VX] (rev 02)

I've got an (old) S3 ViRGE/VX card in this box.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, pull the box open or refer to
documentation on what kind of card you've got. Take a number off the
biggest chip(s) on the video card and run 'em through Google.

Peace.
