I think there's framebuffer support for plain 'vesa-compatible' cards and then there's optimized support for specific cards. There's maybe a dozen vendors/cards listed for my 2.4.9 kernel. When you config your kernel, selecting framebuffer support will expand to show what specific cards you can select from. Hall
