Umm. How is X broken? Could the fact, that I'm not able to run Blackbox or IceWM (the only two I've tested with) on top of xserver-svga (3.3.6 - couldn't get 4-series server to work) with xlibs and all the other X stuff 4.1.0, be related to this?
