2.4.9 isn't that old, actually. There's no harm in not having the 'latest and greatest' versions of everything. There's also quite a debate regarding the 'major' changes made in 2.4.10/.11/.12 in the VM, virtual memory, code. Alan Cox is very much against the changes and isn't merging them into his -AC series yet, if ever. Most think changes like this shouldn't occur in what are supposed to be 'stable' kernels, i.e. the 'even' numbered versions. Hall
