Pls comment on this: I have a potato box with the 2.4.9-xfs kernel and GCC-3.0.1 which I compiled from the source. I tried to compile the 2.4.11-xfs kernel but the compiler generated an "internal compiler error."
Does 2.4.11 really won't compile under GCC-3.0.1 on potato? At least it ain't like compiling 2.4.10 on GCC-3.0.1 which just seg-faults whatever you do to it... Note that I haven't tried this on woody or sid. I don't know if glibc 2.2.x would have any effect on this (as potato still has 2.1) Any other solution (aside from downgrading the compiler - anyway upgrading a not-so-well-tested compiler on a stable release is already foolish in the first place)? __________________________________ www.edsamail.com
