hi sydney - if you log in as sbrooks for example, and your home directory is /home/sbrooks then you need to execute a shell window- either go to a virtual terminal via pressing CTRL+ALT+F1 - or in one of your application menus in Enlightenment find "xterm" "gnome-xterm" or similar. this gives you a "DOS" like interface, we call it a command prompt (this is the heart of UNIX/Linux). now you need to navigate to your home directory like this : #whoami <enter> says your username #cd <enter> go to your home dir #echo icewm > .xsession <enter> puts the text "icewm" in the file .xsession in your home dir #chmod +x .xsession <enter> makes .xsession executable by the shell
Note: the # sign is the substitute for whatever you prompt is, you dont type "#"... Now try logging out and back in! :) Let me know if you still have trouble.
