Have you tried either removing/purging 'xfs' and re-configuring your /etc/X11/XF86Config settings to not use the local font server (let X handle the fonts itself, which it does quite well) ?? Or, re-install/re-configure 'xfs' ?? That seems to have worked for many people. Hall
