        I did some testing last night just for giggles.  I downloaded the Sisoft
SANDRA 2001te (5.8.11) benchmarking tool from download.cnet.com.  I ran
comparisons on my dual boot Win2K install to a VMWare Virtual HD install of
Win2K.  The benchmarks according to this tool ran the CPU, etc. tests at
about 96% of the regular performance.  However, the virtual hard drive got
270% BETTER performance.  YMMV, but it's a small price to pay for not having
to dual boot.

I just love Debian/GNU Linux!
