Still dunno what you mean. You can just use the SCSI device nodes
instead of their ATAPI equivalents, so /dev/scd[0123...] instead of the
ATAPI devices. When your programs (eg. cd-player) are configured to
access /dev/cdrom, you can just symlink /dev/scd0 to /dev/cdrom and you
won't notice any difference.
