I've noticed that XFree86 seems to claim a whole bunch of swap-space on my box, and that msot of it is non-resident. The memory usage shot right up when I installed the NVidia-GLX drivers. Here's the output of top(1):
CPU states: 1.2% user, 2.4% system, 0.0% nice, 96.4% idle Mem: 384848K total, 359340K used, 25508K free, 60760K buffers Swap: 251868K total, 44408K used, 207460K free, 204616K cached PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND 741 root 8 -10 210M 33M 11504 S < 0.5 8.8 7:53 XFree86 Is this normal?? What's it doing with all that swap-space? -- cheers, Mike
