I've had a minor disaster trying to install qtcups. dselect removed many packages but did not (as far as I can tell) affect the important parts of Potato 2.2 r3. I'm trying to work my way through packages removed and reinstall where needed (if I can).
One package removed was mozilla which will not install for the following reason:- #apt-get install mozilla [depends on libgtk1.2] #apt-get install libgtk1.2 [depends on gconv-modules] #apt-get install gconv-modules [... is a virtual pkg provided by: you should explicitly select one to install] I don't understand the last message - I thought libc6 provided gconv-modules. At least it did with v.2.1.3-18, but now to satisfy a dependency with the qtcups attempt I have v 2.2.3-9. What exactly does the error message imply, and how can I get over the problem? Grateful for any assistance. John. .
