Hey - I was hoping someone else who knows more about DHCP would have replied to you by now, but I'll try. It's hard to say what the problem is without a little more investigation right now, but it could be many things. Check the logs of dhcpclient - they should be in /var/log/. That'll at least gicve you a starting point. If you're being refused service by the provider, something is wrong in your dhclient.conf file. If it's some other error, it may be something as stupid as the cable line isn't hooked up on the street (happened to me) or the modem they gave you is not working right. Try pinging the various addresses they gave you (DNS server, gateway, and so forth) - if you're not being refused service and you still can't ping these, it may just be hardware related. As a last resort, set up your connection as a static one, and see if you can connect. Many cable providers don't actually change their IP's all that often, and you could at least temporarily get online that way. Good luck, Steve
