Perhaps reiserfs support is labelled "Experimental" in 2.4.7? (I'm on 2.2.19 myself, where you still have to patch the kernel). In this case you have to answer Y to CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL, which is the very first option offered, or all the experimental options won't appear in the configuration menu. * Code maturity level options * Prompt for development and/or incomplete code/drivers (CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL) [Y/n/?] By the way, are you really doing "make config?" I find "make menuconfig" to be much easier to use. You will need ncurses to get menuconfig to work.
