I don't know if there's a package, but it's a kernel option in 2.4.6. Just compile with scsi support (even if you have no adapter card) and there is a switch for "SCSI generic support" which needs to be on. It's in the top group of options.
Then under IDE/ATA/ATAPI/EVERYTHING AND IT'S MOM you need to set SCSI emulation on. It's like the last option before the chipset options, but it won't appear if you haven't done the above... :) Compile the kernel Finally, you need to pass the kernel the parameter "hdx=scsi" via an append statement in lilo.conf. Then rerun /sbin/lilo. And of course, replace "x" with the letter of your CD-ROM (probably a if you're running it off your motherboard controller and you have a real HD controller for your real HD). BTW, you never know when this will change, so I would pass it as a kernel-specific parameter, not as a generic one. Check your dmesg to make sure the change took. He complains in a reasonable way if it doesn't. I just did this and my CD-Burner works like a champ! :) --adam b. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Markus Hansen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Matthias Richter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Debian Mailinglist" <debian-user@lists.debian.org> Sent: Monday, July 23, 2001 9:40 AM Subject: Re: mitsumi 4802 te > what is this ide-scsi? > how can i use it? > where can i find it? which kackage? > thanks > markus > > Matthias Richter wrote: > > > Markus Hansen wrote on Sun Jul 22, 2001 at 11:52:06PM: > > > hi does anyone have experience or know > > > wheter the mitsumi 4802 te works with linux or not? > > > > Works flawlessly with ide-scsi.
