Are there any benchmarks around that tell which is the fastest architecture (i386, PPC, etc) running gnu/linux. I'm not talking about MHz or dry stones, but of timings that are of practical use to the typical gnu/linux user. Example: How long does it take to compile the kernel, XFree86 or that beast OpenOffice?
