ftp.us.debian.org which is also one of the http.us.debian.org round robin servers is having some problems. Try to use another deb uri, pointing to a mirror that is geographically closer to you. If you're not in the us, try http://ftp.<cc>.debian.org (substitute the iso country code for you contry). If it exists, it probably works much better anyway. Cheers, Joost
