I actually like using PCL because the printouts arrive faster than with PS, usually. I have nothing against PS, only that my (old) printer is slow. | The default laserjet PPD files convert everything to PCL. You should Oh, ok. | probably find a specific PPD for your printer (or PS card), which | would eliminate the conversion to PCL, give you accurate margins, and | enable any features the printer has (such as paper tray selection). That's a nice idea . . . now where do I find such a thing? Do you know of any FM to R regarding the format and options in a PPD file? I did a little tweaking of mine file and changed "LanguageLevel" from "2" to "1". I relied on intuition and the knowledge that my old PS cartridge only handles PS-L1, not L2 or L3 so I was hoping that would help. At first I could only send pure text to the printer, or I would get garbage output. Now I can send PS (I don't think PDFs work yet) and get what I expect. -D
