It might be a dns lookup timeout wait. That should be only three minutes afaik. Check if you have used a symbolic hostname somewhere in your configuration, eg. as a remote loghost in /etc/syslogd.conf If you have another machine on the same network, try sniffing the ethernet while this machine boots. Check out the tcpdump package. Cheers, Joost
