I wouldn't recommend using an Windows box as an Internet server (in the sense of, millions of people all over the world making requests of it all the time), but if you just happen to have a Windows box in your home or office, and you want to be able to exchange files with it when you are at another machine, then a Linux box with smbfs support will be able to access it quite nicely.
