Hi, It's solved......... Just tried patching until it worked.... I did not have my kernel patched.........why isn't it in the kernelsource???????????
anyways. The following is what I usually miss when searching this mailinglist. Solution: read softwareraidhowto; Get kernelsource; unpack get kernelpatch;Ingo's raidpatch raid-2.2.18-B0 location:http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/mingo/raid-patches/ ; unpack link raidpatch to kernelsource and apply patch; patch -p0 > raid-2.2.18-B0. build kernel and hope you didn't forget anything. Please feel free to break my neck. Help others use my explanation and fill in anything that I missed or mistyped. Note:When I tried to make a debianpackage, It complained that the naming was not according to the rules(not all lowercase: 2.2.18-RAID). So I made a bzImage. It is probably the patch (coming from the redhat site) Thanks for your patience and help, Frans Schreuder. > > > Hai, > > Maybe I should add NEWBIE to my mailaccount...... > But the document you are reffering to is complete chinese to me (no offence > here). > Could you guide me through your 'howto'? > > I downloaded Kernel 2.4.5.................but realising that that would be > a > major hassel (if not impossible for me at least). > > I have no clue on how to "patch"......anything when it's not in a .deb > format. > > Thanx (That would also help in applying a compraq-patch...........why did I > buy that thing). > > Frans Schreuder. > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Alvin Oga" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > To: "Frans Schreuder" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Cc: <debian-user@lists.debian.org> > > Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2001 3:26 AM > > Subject: Re: Raid; mkraid /dev/md0_HELP? > > > > > > > > > > hi ya... > > > > > > i had zero problems upgrading to linux-2.2.18 based debian sw raid5 > > > ( was previously built very old raid5 ... still cranking away ) > > > > > > http://www.Linux-Consulting.com/Raid/raid-howto.2.2.18.txt > > > > > > - dont know if there's any major diff between *.18 and *.19 > > > > > > have fun > > > alvin > > > http://www.Linux-Sec.net ...
