This was also one of my problems and i solved it (or i worked arround it) I run Windows and XWindow in different resolutions. My monitor can 'remember' 14 different settings at the same time.
Hmm... I'm already running Windows and X under different resolutions.
Windows is run under 1024x768 and X under 1280x1024. I'd appreciate any more suggestions.
